Stage Road Gardens

Serving the Upper Valley and Southern New Hampshire

Garden Design and Consulting

a sustainable approach

Garden Coaching

Offering consultations and advice on gardening techniques, informed approaches to challenging spaces, and condition-specific plant suggestions. Specializing in perennial and food gardens, ecological landscaping, permaculture, native plants, pollinator, wildlife, & woodland gardens.

Planting Designs

For those who would also like a detailed visual plan, I can measure, sketch, and photograph the space during our initial consult and follow up with a quote for a hand-drawn design.

Installations

Based on my designs, I create new garden spaces from annual planters and pocket gardens to entire landscapes, ornamental and food gardens, perennial beds, herb gardens, wildlife habitat, urban green spaces, and more.

Maintenance

Weeding, pruning, adding new plants, rehabbing overgrown gardens, renewing neglected spaces. (Available on a limited basis, usually for gardens I’ve designed and installed.)

Design Drawings

Stage Road Gardens designs are hand-drawn, detailed, and catered to the client's specific tastes and goals. Though hardscaping (patios, paths, retaining walls, etc.) is helpful in defining a space, a successful planting plan considers light, moisture, climate, and other environmental factors to determine which plants will thrive. Aesthetic design principles help to create visual harmony and flow between the garden and its surroundings. As a professional garden designer, I offer decades of horticultural and artistic experience, as well as a deep knowledge of and passion for plants. Through the consultation process, I’ll learn about the growing conditions, your preferences, and what you’d like to get out of your garden to create a final design that will provide you with years of enjoyment.

About Me

I’ve been growing and fascinated by plants my entire life. Raised by a mother who was also a passionate gardener, I grew up with my hands in the soil from as early as I can remember. While working as an educator for several years, I also spent summers and weekends working at local nurseries and learning more about plants, organizing and selling at local farmers’ markets, and expanding my own gardens. I lived on one small plot of land in Nottingham, NH for nineteen years and gradually transformed the lawns and even part of the driveway into a network of mixed ornamental and food gardens that work in harmony with the local ecosystem. My property came to serve as wildlife habitat, a beautiful refuge for people and pollinators alike, and a supplementary food source for me, my friends and family, and the community. With a recent move to the Upper Valley, I look forward to bringing my love for plants, art, and ecology to a new region while continuing to work with clients on the Seacoast and in the towns in between.

I enjoy helping others reimagine and remake their own outdoor spaces in creative and sustainable ways, whether they are looking to build pollinator gardens, food gardens, ornamental beds, or a combination of those and more. I love sharing my knowledge about plants, organic growing practices, permaculture, and garden design. I offer both consultation and design services, if you’d like to get some advice/inspiration or a complete planting plan, and then do the work yourself, and hands-on garden work (within my local range) if you’d like me to make your vision a reality.

Send me an email, give me a call, or fill out the contact form below if you think you might be interested in working together. Looking forward to talking with you!
